October is a great month for special events in the city of Santa Clarita, and this year, there is something for everyone.
Check out the 15th annual Bow Wows and Meows Pet Fair on Sunday, Oct. 11, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Hart Park.
Got kids? Then you won’t want to miss the Child and Family Center’s annual Kid Expo on Sunday, October 18 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Golden Valley High School.
Want to help the SCV Food Pantry? Participate in the 22nd annual 5K Walk/Run Against Hunger on Sunday, October 25 at 8 a.m. at Central Park. (Visit the City’s community calendar for details and for more great events).
This year marks the City’s 20th anniversary for our annual Marathon. For two decades, we’ve been bringing a Boston marathon-qualifying race event to the streets of Santa Clarita, along with a host of other fitness-oriented events to help keep everyone healthy. This year’s Marathon is Sunday, Nov. 8.
The day will include the marathon, a half marathon, a 5K run, Mayor’s Walk and a Kid K run. All races will begin at 7 a.m., with the exception of the Kid K, which will begin at 8:30 a.m.
The day before the marathon, (Saturday, Nov. 7) everyone is invited to the free Health and Fitness Expo. In addition to over 30 health and fitness industry exhibitor booths, the event will also feature free prizes as well as running gear and products available for purchase. This is also, the last chance to register for all events (Marathon, Half-Marathon, 5K, Mayors Walk and Kid K). For more information, visit SCMarathon.org

Hosted by the Santa Clarita City Council, the luncheon event is open to the public and you can RSVP online or by calling 661-255-4939. The cost is $40 per person.
