The Saugus Union School District will formally kick off its academic year with a “Welcome Back Convocation” at the Real Life Church on Newhall Ranch Road in Valencia on Monday, August 7 from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
The event for teachers, administrators and staff will feature a keynote address from inspirational speaker Steve Ventura, a former educator/administrator with expertise in leadership development, curriculum and instructional design.
“We are so excited to have Steve Ventura address our teachers and administrators this year,” said Joan Lucid, EdD. “This is the perfect way to welcome our teachers back to school, with a reminder of what makes them special and the incredible impact they have on students and their learning experiences.”
Ventura’s address will “highlight the effective leadership and teacher profiles in becoming a high impact school and district.”
The program will also feature welcome back messages from Dr. Lucid, the Governing Board, Cabinet and the Saugus Teachers’ Association, as well as an introduction of Ventura by Isa De Armas, EdD, Assistant Superintendent for Instruction.
“It is important to begin the school year with an inspirational thought and reflection,” added David Powell, PhD, President of the Saugus Union School District Governing Board. “We look forward to an amazing year, filled with growth and celebrations.”
SUSD opens its school year on Wednesday, August 9, 2017.
