As the 2017/2018 school year begins in the Santa Clarita Valley, the SCV Education Foundation seeks to further support its literacy programs in the Castaic, Newhall, Saugus and Sulphur Springs elementary school districts with its annual “Bag of Books” fundraising campaign.

This year, the non-profit organization’s goal is to add the Bag of Books program to 16 kindergarten classrooms at Old Orchard, Peachland, Mitchell, Fair Oaks and Northlake Hills elementary schools.

This means that 425 young readers will get a backpack filled with four new books each week. They will return the books weekly only to get another four books.

Over the course of a school year they will have the opportunity to reach 130 different books….in their home….with their families.

Just $25 will buy one backpack filled with four books.

A $1,000 donation will supply a classroom and give the donor an opportunity to be there when the books are delivered, if desired.
