Starting Tuesday, Aug. 29, College of the Canyons students can leave their brown-bag lunches at home on Tuesdays because COC’s Institute for Culinary Education (aka iCuE) Café will resume its weekly lunch service.
Running through Tuesday, October 10, the fall lunch service menu will be a five-course meal prepared by advanced culinary arts students and Chef Daniel Otto, who was recently voted Best Chef in Santa Clarita by Elite Magazine.
The Culinary Arts Café will be open for lunch from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, with all parties accepted by reservation only.
Cost of the meal is $25 per person.
“We are very excited to offer our lunch service to students, faculty, staff and community members who wish to support our program,” said Cindy Schwanke, department chair for the culinary arts and wine studies program at the college.
“Our lunch service provides invaluable hands-on experience to our students so that they can thrive in the competitive world that is the restaurant industry,” she said.
The luncheons are part of the highly regarded instructional training program that COC provides to students who wish to pursue careers in the food and hospitality industry.
After October 10, the iCuE will return to its buffet-style lunch on Thursdays.
Reservations can be made online through the iCuE request form.
