The County of Los Angeles Workforce Development, Aging and Community Services (WDACS) and the Los Angeles County Workforce Development Board (WDB) are releasing the Los Angeles WIOA Regional Plan (Regional Plan) and the Los Angeles County WIOA Local Plan (Local Plan) for a 30-day public comment period. These plans outline the vision, goals and strategies through the year 2020 for the County’s WIOA programs, which are operated through a network of America’s Job Centers of California.
“These landmark Regional and Local Plans unite diverse public and private partners throughout the County of Los Angeles around a shared approach to develop a skilled and competitive workforce that meets the needs of businesses and employers,” said Cynthia Banks, Director of WDACS, Los Angeles County.
The Regional Plan outlines a shared vision for seven WDBs, community colleges, adult schools, economic development organizations, labor organizations, nonprofits and other workforce partners located throughout the County of Los Angeles. The Local Plan operationalizes the strategies in the Regional Plan and provides details on the unique efforts WDACS intends to undertake to meet the workforce needs of local businesses and job seekers, especially individuals with barriers to employment.
The Local and Regional Plans were developed through a months-long collaborative process between the greater Los Angeles region’s seven WDBs: City of Los Angeles, Foothill, Los Angeles County, Pacific Gateway, South Bay, Southeast Los Angeles County, and Verdugo. Over the past several months, the seven WDBs collectively hosted 19 regional stakeholder forums across Los Angeles County to gather critical input that informed the development of the Regional Plan and each respective board’s local plan. Over 500 individuals attended these forums and represented a broad cross-section of business, labor, economic development, educational and other WIOA partners and stakeholders.
As a part of the County’s ongoing efforts to ensure community input and review of each plan, WDACS seeks public input on or before Friday, March 3, 2017. Please visit the following websites for access to the draft plans and their associated public comment forms:
