The Foothill League championship in boys basketball is up for grabs with one game left to play.
Three teams are still in contention after Tuesday night’s games. West Ranch and Canyon, the leaders in the Foothill League standings, both won. Hart, a game behind West Ranch and Canyon, also won to keep pace.
West Ranch beat Saugus, 65-55, behind 20 points from Ako Kaluna.
The Canyon boys beat Golden Valley, 64-49. Clay Kasdorf scored 28 points for Canyon.
Hart squeaked past Valencia, 65-63. Lewis Stallworth scored 17 points to lead Hart. Daniel Salovich had 12 points for Valencia.
The Boys Varsity Valencia v. Hart game will be televised on SCVTV Wednesday at 6p following the Girls Varsity game at 6p. SCVTV is on Time Warner Cable Channel 20, AT&T u-Verse channel 99/Santa Clarita and SCVTV.com.
In girls basketball, Valencia beat Hart, 68-41. Kalia Summerlin led Valencia with 25 points.
The Saugus girls beat West Ranch, 42-39.
In high school soccer, the Santa Clarita Christian girls shut out Hillcrest Christian, 4-0. Lauren Gallagher scored two goals and Christina Keoshian recorded her fifth league shutout in goal.
Madison Utley and Madison Latch each scored a goal for Santa Clarita Christian.
The Saugus girls played to a 1-1 draw against West Ranch.
The Canyon boys beat Golden Valley, 3-1. A.J. Rochow scored the first goal for Canyon.
The Hart boys tied Valencia, 1-1.
The Saugus and West Ranch boys played to a scoreless draw.
The Santa Clarita Christian boys beat Hillcrest Christian, 7-1. Daniel Stratton scored five goals and had two assists for Santa Clarita Christian.
In college basketball, The Master’s College men lost, 74-62, to Concordia, the No. 16 team in the NAIA. Anthony Cammon scored 15 points for The Master’s College, ranked No. 25 in the NAIA.
The Master’s College women beat Concordia, 82-64. Lindsey Levanen scored 17 points and had seven rebounds. Five players from The Master’s College scored in double figures.
In baseball, the Dodgers signed Cy Young Award winner Clayton Kershaw to a two-year, $19 million contract extension.
He led the league with 21 wins, a 2.28 ERA and 248 strikeouts last season to become only the third Dodger to win the triple crown for pitching.
In hockey, the Kings scored two goals in the second period and beat the Tampa Bay Lightning, 3-1. Kyle Clifford and Dustin Penner scored for the Kings in the second period.
Anze Kopitar gave the Kings a 1-0 lead with a goal in the first period.
