The College of the Canyons Canyon Country campus is inviting students and community members to participate in its bi-annual ‘Garden Walk’ event designed to showcase the campus’ unique plant life.

The Garden Walk and accompanying campus tour will take place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 16.

Attendees are asked to meet at the flagpole located adjacent to building 1A. Free parking will be available in campus parking lot No. 3.

In addition to a tour of the campus’ Outdoor Research Garden, participants will be able to learn about both native and invasive plants, while receiving several gardening tips along the way.

Questions about what plants are susceptible to overwatering, how deerweed increases the fertility of soil, and why it is important to include native plants in your garden will all be answered. Participants will also learn how to dissect a flower and make their own hybrid plants.

“The Campus Garden Walks continue to grow in popularity, with more than 30 attendees at our last event,” said Anthony Michaelides, Dean of Campus Services & Operations at the Canyon Country campus. “The event allows participants to actively learn about the native and invasive plants on campus with a hands-on activity, while providing a relaxing stroll through the hills of the Canyon Country campus.”

As always, the Canyon Country campus Garden Walk is free and open to the public.
