SAN BERNARDINO – The JetHawks came back by plating four runs in the fourth inning and held on by holding the Inland Empire 66ers scoreless over the final six frames in a 4-3 win on Wednesday night at San Manuel Stadium.

The JetHawks (31-35) trailed 3-0 entering the top of the fourth but send 10 batters to the plate to take the lead. Steven Linkous delivered the go-ahead base-hit, a two-run single with the bases loaded against former JetHawk left-hander Matt Bower.

Vince Fernandez started the inning with a double and scored on a Colton Welker single. Two batters later, Willie Abreu singled to score Welker, who had moved to second on a ground ball. The hit extended Abreu’s hitting streak to nine games.

Starter Matt Ball (1-1) was pulled after an Alan Trejo single. Bower walked the first batter he faced, Joel Diaz, to load the bases and set the stage for Linkous’ decisive hit.

Ty Culbreth (2-3) gave up a solo home run to Jo Adell in the first inning and a pair of runs in the third before settling in once he had the lead. He compelted seven innings for the first time this season and struck out a season-high seven batters without issuing a walk.

Justin Lawrence retired the side in order in the eighth, and Reid Humphreys pitched a perfect ninth to record his 13th save of the season. The scoreless ninth extended Humphreys’ scoreless-innings streak to 15.0 innings.

The win moved the JetHawks into a third-place tie with Inland Empire (31-35), two games behind first-place Rancho Cucamonga and 1.0 game behind second-place Lake Elsinore with four games to play in the first half. Lancaster’s elimination number is three.

The series concludes on Thursday night at San Manuel Stadium. David Hill (1-1) is slated to start for Lancaster opposite Jeremy Beasley (1-1). First pitch is 7:05 p.m.
