Supporters of the 2017 Santa Clarita Walk to End Alzheimer’s are kicking off the planning for this year’s event with a fun and informative kickoff mixer June 28 in which participants will have a chance to win a seven-day vacation in Antigua.
“We’re going to have a great time, while also building excitement and helping teams get organized for the main event, which is the Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Oct. 7,” said SCV Walk Chairman Rick Ferrante, founder and president of Home Care Services Santa Clarita, a major supporter of the event. “We’re looking forward to building the momentum for the October walk, as we strive to not only help families cope with Alzheimer’s but also support the search for a cure.”
The mixer is scheduled 6-8 p.m. June 28 at Pacifica Senior Living Santa Clarita, 24305 Lyons Avenue, and appetizers and refreshments will be served. The event will include networking, information sessions about how the Alzheimer’s Association is fighting the disease, discussion of walk team fundraising strategies, and a raffle with numerous prizes, including the grand prize: A seven-day Antigua vacation valued at $2,700.
To enter into the grand prize raffle drawing, participants can register a walk team on or before June 28 for the Oct. 7 SCV Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Teams can be three or more people and can start with as little as $5. Participants can register their teams at act.alz.org/SCV.
Those planning to attend the mixer on June 28 are asked to RSVP by email to Brian Welch at bwelch@alz.org.
