The Master’s University volleyball team opened its home schedule Tuesday night by taking down Life Pacific College in three sets in front of a wild crowd on Bross Court.

With the win, TMU’s 2016 record improved to 3-2.

“The gym was alive tonight, and the excitement was deafening,” commented Lady Mustang head coach Allan Vince. “I just loved the energy that our new students brought to the gym, and I think it caught our girls off guard a little bit to start. We started to catch our groove midway through the match, and I was very excited to see that no matter which athlete played, they did a fantastic job at pacing the rest of the team and coming together after every point. We have a lot to look forward to this season, and I am very happy for a strong start in our home opener.”

Before the match began, Vince took a minute and welcomed the 300 new TMU students that were enjoying the match and the Week of Welcome festivities that surrounded it.

After TMU opened with a 25-16 victory in the first set, the Warriors kept things close in the second frame by forcing the Lady Mustangs to fight for another 25-16 win. Finally, TMU put the evening on ice by taking down LPC 25-10 in the third set.

Kayla Sims (Anchorage, AK) tallied 24 assists, Maryah Richberg (Santa Clarita, CA) posted eight kills, while Emily Clark (Lake Forrest, CA) posted seven digs. Notably, all eligible players on Vince’s roster received valuable playing time.

Looking ahead, on Saturday, the Lady Mustangs will host Oregon Tech at 2:00 p.m.
