The city of Santa Clarita is known for hosting some pretty spectacular events. The Cowboy Festival, Concerts in the Park and the Santa Clarita Marathon have been community favorites for decades.
However, our unofficial kick-off to the holiday season event has only been around for six years and already has grown from an audience of about a thousand to a bustling, must-attend event that brings more than 10,000 people to Old Town Newhall.
Light Up Main, coming up on November 16, has cemented itself as the most popular happening in town.
Start off your Light Up Main Street Saturday with a holiday shopping extravaganza. Retailers in Old Town Newhall will offer sales and specials to encourage shopping local this holiday season. You will find unique and one-of-a-kind gifts throughout the varied collection of boutiques and specialty shops.
At 6 p.m. head over to the stage area, directly in front of the Old Town Newhall Library for the entertainment.
The City Council will be joined on stage by the host for this year, KTLA news anchor Chris Schauble, who will take us through a night of holiday performances – culminating with the tree lighting at 7:30 p.m.
Performances will then continue on the main stage until 9 p.m.
Light Up Main Street attendees will enjoy a variety of activities for all ages, including the opportunity to take photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
Food trucks will be located on Lyons Avenue by the library, selling a range of dinner and dessert options, and a number of businesses along Main Street will be open during the event.
You won’t want to miss the flip of the switch as hundreds of thousands of lights come to life – up and down Main Street! This holiday spectacle is sure to get you into the spirit of the season.
I look forward to seeing you at Light up Main!
