Following a tradition dating back more than a century, Providence Health & Services will grant a total of $365,200 Tuesday to 17 San Fernando Valley area nonprofit groups that serve the homeless, the disabled, school children in low-income areas and other vulnerable populations.
The money will be presented at a 3 p.m. ceremony Tuesday, Jan. 24, in the chapel at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center, 501 S. Buena Vista St., Burbank, CA, 91505. Representatives of each recipient organization will detail the work they do for those in need.
Funding comes from the Mother Joseph Fund, which holds contributions from the three Providence medical centers in the San Fernando Valley, Providence Saint Joseph, Providence Tarzana and Providence Holy Cross in Mission Hills.
“For more than 100 years, Providence has lived the values and mission of our founding Sisters of Providence to provide compassionate care to the poor and vulnerable,” said Sr. Nancy Jurecki, OP, chief mission integration officer for Providence Health & Services, Southern California. “We are honored to partner with community organizations that share our mission to meet the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health needs of all those we serve.”
