Lights, Camera, Santa Clarita!
October is one of my favorite months of the year. The weather is turning colder, we are moving toward the holiday season and here in Santa Clarita – it is State of the City time! If you have not had the opportunity to attend one of the State of the City Luncheons, I encourage you to mark your calendar for October 24, 2019. This annual event is a time for residents to hear updates on City projects, celebrate accomplishments and learn more about the wonderful things happening in Santa Clarita.
This year’s luncheon will truly be the blockbuster of the season with the theme – Lights, Camera, Santa Clarita! We will celebrate the rich western film heritage that is part of our valley’s history, moving into modern times and the current films and shows that film here, to the tune of $33 million in economic benefit.
The recent big-screen sensation depicting one of the darkest times in tinsel town was shot at the Saugus Swapmeet and a local movie ranch, among other locations. Not only did “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” bring a major production to our City – it also brought some of the biggest stars in the world… Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio!
Come explore our City’s film history at this year’s luncheon. Guests will hear from the City Council, watch video updates, enjoy lunch, receive a commemorative gift and see some silver screen surprises! The event will take place on Thursday, October 24, 2019, at 11:30 a.m. at the Hyatt Regency Valencia. Tickets for the State of the City Luncheon are $40 per person and can be purchased at santa-clarita.com. For more information on the State of the City event, please call the city of Santa Clarita at (661) 255-4939.
