Here’s a look at how The Master’s University’s sports teams rank in the latest polls.
Women’s volleyball No. 11 … Poll/Story
The Mustangs (23-3, 11-0 GSAC) have gone 4-0 since moving up to No. 11 last week, including a five-set win over No. 15 Vanguard. This could mean Master’s will make another jump up the poll when the next rankings are released Oct. 16. That depends, of course, on the outcome of Friday’s match in Santa Barbara.
Next match: at No. 17 Westmont College on Friday at 7 p.m.
Men’s cross country No. 21 … Poll/Story
The Mustangs didn’t race over the weekend but moved up one spot.
Next race: at the Warrior Invitational in Rocklin, Calif. on Oct. 20.
Women’s soccer No. 23 … Poll/Story
The Mustangs (10-3-1, 3-1 GSAC) fell one spot this week despite two road wins in conference play. Master’s has shut out its last three GSAC opponents and has recorded eight shutouts on the year.
Next game: at No. 11 Westmont College in Santa Barbara on Saturday at noon.
Men’s golf Receiving votes … Poll/Story
The Mustangs received votes in the preseason poll on Aug. 24. The next poll is scheduled for release on Oct. 12.
Next meet: at MCU Fall Invitational in Palm Springs on Oct. 22 and 23.
Men’s soccer Unranked … Poll/Story
For the first time this season, the Mustangs (10-4, 2-2 GSAC) did not receive votes in this week’s poll. There’s reason to hope that a ranking might be on the way, though, as Master’s beat then-No. 16 Menlo, 3-1, on the road over the weekend.
Next game: at Westmont College in Santa Barbara on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
Women’s cross country Unranked … Poll/Story
The Mustangs fell out of the NAIA Top 25 last week for the first time since 2011.
Next race: at the Warrior Invitational in Rocklin, Calif. on Oct. 20.
