Starting April 19, families and individuals in the Santa Clarita Valley can go to the Henry Mayo Urgent Care Center for their urgent care needs.
Conveniently located on Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital’s campus at 23929 McBean Parkway, Suite 102, the Urgent Care Center will offer healthcare services for adults and pediatrics seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The Urgent Care Center will be staffed with family practice physicians and nurses, and equipped with the latest technology to offer full urgent care services including laboratory studies, X-rays, laceration repair, fracture evaluation, as well as management of fevers and other illnesses, according to Bud Lawrence, MD, Medical Director.
“We have state-of-the-art, brand new equipment, such as digital X-rays, to provide the best possible images which will be transmitted for immediate interpretation by our local radiologists,” Dr. Lawrence said.
Patients do not need an appointment to be seen; they will check in with a fully electronic triage system where they input their information into an iPad. They will then be evaluated by a nurse to start treatment.
“Our goal is to provide the highest quality of care to patients in the SCV because, as someone who also calls this town home, I feel that our community deserves nothing less,” he said. “I’m thrilled to be able to serve the many families, individuals and children who reside here.”
Dr. Lawrence has strong ties to the SCV community, where he lives with his wife Regan and two daughters, Cambria and Maci, ages 12 and 10. Since moving to the SCV in 2001, Dr. Lawrence has been involved in several community outreach projects. For the past 10 years, he has provided free physical examinations to Valencia High School athletes where he can see up to 200 students in a day several times throughout the year.
He explained that the student athletes pay for the exam and 100% of the money is donated back to the high school sports medicine program which supports and trains students to become student athletic trainers. They in turn help treat the student athletes when they are injured or if they need preventive treatments like taping.
Dr. Lawrence has been with Henry Mayo since 2003 where he works as an attending Emergency Medicine physician and serves as the Director of Risk Management in the Emergency Department. He also serves as IT Physician Champion for the hospital. As Urgent Care Center Medical Director, he will oversee daily function and management of the facility.
“It’s everything you would expect from an urgent care facility,” Dr. Lawrence said. “The great news is, beyond the scope of the clinic, we have an excellent relationship with Henry Mayo’s Emergency Department and can quickly facilitate a transfer of care if necessary. In addition, electronic records at the Urgent Care Center will integrate with the hospital’s current system, allowing the primary care physician to easily understand and follow the results and treatment plan from the urgent care visit.”
The Urgent Care Center accepts most private insurances and cash. For more information, please call (661) 200-2500 or visit www.henrymayourgentcare.com.
