New Staff
Kathy Brown is Family Promise’s new congregational liaison, connecting volunteers to host and support congregations.

Kathleen Brown (Kathy) has been a part of Family Promise SCV since its beginning when she answered a call about social justice ministry for her parish, St. Clare’s. She served on the BOD for several years and helped facilitate the opening of the first generous and devoted host congregations. After leaving her term with the Family Promise Board, Kathy continued some involvement in volunteering at various host sites and spreading the good news about the Family Promise programs.

Kahty Brown, Family PromiseIn June 2017, Kathy retired from 25 years of teaching with the Sulphur Springs School District. She has a BA in English/Creative Writing from the Univ. of Montana and a M.Ed. from the Univ. of La Verne.

She has lived with her husband in their Canyon Country home for the past 29 years. Her husband is a Professor Emeritus at the Dept. of Ophthalmology Research at UCI. Their three children graduated from local schools, now live away from the SCV, and they have families of their own.

Kathy is grateful to spend more time with their four grandchildren, two of whom live on the East Coast, and with her husband while he continues part-time work in Irvine. She believes strongly in the Family Promise mission to help our guests achieve sustainable independence and values this opportunity to truly live her faith.

Brown can be reached by phone at 661-251-2866.
