[County Assessor] – A local chapter of the historical society Sons of the American Revolution will hold its annual “Massing of the Colors” event this Sunday, Feb. 14, marking the 34th anniversary of this special educational event honoring George Washington and saluting U.S. Armed Forces.
The Sons of Liberty chapter, as well as high school JROTC and college ROTC units dressed in Revolutionary period uniforms will participate in the “Massing of the Colors” at Forest Lawn Memorial Park at 3 p.m.
The event is a historical display with exceptional visuals, and an educational opportunity for local schools and the community.
Director of the Los Angeles County Department of Military & Veterans Affairs Gen. Ruth Wong and L.A. County Assessor Jeffrey Prang are also scheduled to attend the festivities.
Founded in 1889 as an historical, educational, and lineage non-profit corporation, the SAR promotes the history and heritage of the Revolutionary War and contributes to a number of important community service and philanthropic events throughout the year.
The Sons of Liberty chapter represents metropolitan Los Angeles, providing educational support, including a comprehensive classroom program for local schools, and works with scouting organizations, high school JROTC and college ROTC programs that provide scholarships.
