Several young adults with special needs from Carousel Ranch’s Ready to Work! (RTW!) program will be joining Martha Aguilara and Kokolita’s in preparing more than 1000 Thanksgiving meals for those in need.
RTW! students will join countless volunteers in making this monumental task possible on Wednesday at Kokolita’s Newhall location, 24623 Arch St, Santa Clarita, 91321, between the hours of 2:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m.
Aguilara explains that she began this Thanksgiving tradition in 2013, when she fed 100 in need. This year – her “Thankful-Giving” efforts will provide over 1000 meals. This incredible undertaking will
help to feed many homeless on skid row, SCV and in the Antelope Valley, single parents who simply can’t afford to make a meal themselves and even first responders (police departments and fire stations) who
are simply too busy keeping us safe to spend the holiday with their families.
For the RTW! students – this is a perfect fit – not only offering them real life work experience in food preparation, but giving them a chance to do give back by helping others. For Martha, she explains,
“We want people to know that they are valued and appreciated and that they deserve the home cooked meal I would put on my own kitchen table which is why everything is from scratch.”
Carousel Ranch is dedicated to improving the lives of children and young adults with special needs. Through both our equestrian therapy and vocational training programs, we strive to create an atmosphere where every student can and will succeed…a place where therapy is disguised as fun.
