College of the Canyons’ undefeated football team returns home to Cougar Stadium at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27 vs. conference rival Ventura College, and all fans wearing a Halloween costume are invited to attend free of charge (costume must be family friendly).
It’s the fourth of five regular season home games slated for the 2018 campaign.
General admission tickets to all Cougar football games are $10. Kids 10 and younger are free.
In addition, all 2018 home games will be live-streamed to fans through a broadcast partnership with SoCalCollegeSports.com. Archived footage of the game can also be viewed at any time following the broadcast.
Canyons currently owns a 12-game win streak. Most recently, the Cougars defeated East L.A. College 31-9 in week seven.
Canyons is 7-0 for the first time since 2008 and the fifth time since COC reinstated its football program in 1998.
Head Coach Ted Iacenda’s team continues to boast the top-ranked defense in the state, having held opponents to an average of just 7.3 points per game. The Cougars are also allowing opponents just over 224 yards of total offense per game, good for the state’s second-best mark.
Ventura posted a 62-7 home victory over Moorpark College in week seven, for its second win in as many weeks. The Pirates’ lone loss came in a week five road tilt vs. Fullerton College.
The Cougars will enter Saturday’s contest with Ventura as the No. 2 ranked team in the state according to the most recent California Community College Sports Information Association (CCCSIA) poll. Ventura is ranked No. 5 in the state.
The final 2018 COC football home game is set for Saturday, Nov. 10 vs. Bakersfield College. For that game, all veterans and active duty military personnel will be admitted free with valid ID.
