The National Fastpitch Coaches Association has named its NCAA Division 1 All-American team, and two former Foothill League players have been honored.
Oklahoma’s Jessica Shults, formerly of Hart, was named to the All-American 1st team. Shults, a catcher for the Sooners, batted .382 with 19 homers and 57 runs batted in.
Madison Shipman, a former Valencia Viking and now a shortstop with the Tennessee Volunteers, made the second team. She hit .319 with 19 home runs and 63 RBI.
Shults and Shipman are two of five players currently playing in the women’s college world series. Joining Shults on the Sooners roster is former Canyon star Brittany Williams, Melissa Brown from Hart is with Shipman at Tennessee, and Bethany Kemp from Valencia is at Arizona State.
