April 14 through 18 is National Library Week, and it’s the perfect time to highlight all of the wonderful libraries we have in the Santa Clarita Valley and the activities they offer.
As a parent on a tight budget, I love getting books and movies at the library for our family to enjoy and benefiting from the various free activities the libraries offer.
In the SCV, we benefit from two library systems. There are the city of Santa Clarita libraries – the Canyon Country Joann Darcy Library on Soledad Canyon Road, the Old Town Newhall Library on Main Street, and the Main Branch/Valencia Library on Valencia Boulevard. The other library system in the SCV is the county of Los Angeles Library, including the Castaic Public Library on Sloan Canyon Road (behind the Walgreens just off the 5 Freeway near Lake Hughes Road), the Stevenson Ranch Express Library located near Dr. Richard Rioux Memorial Park off of Faulkner Drive, and the SCV Bookmobile, which parks at the Castaic Sports Complex on Mondays, Val Verde Park on Wednesdays and West Creek Park on Thursdays.
