The second annual “Heart to Hart” benefit concert is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 2, at 7:00 p.m. in the Hart High School Auditorium, 24825 Newhall Ave., Newhall. All funds collected at the concert will be donated to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
This student-led event features young performers from throughout the Santa Clarita Valley, including:
• Hartbeat, Hart High School’s a capella group.
• Hart High School Show Choir students.
• Marley Bleu (West Ranch High School).
• Familiar Friends (band comprised of Hart High graduates).
• Elisha and Marco Soronio (local brother-and-sister duo).
“I am excited to be a part of this concert again this year,” said Bleu. “It’s a great opportunity to showcase the talents of local teens in order to raise money and awareness in a fun way.”
Now in its second year, this concert began to fulfill an extra-credit anatomy class assignment called the “cancer project,” which required students to create a fund-raising opportunity to benefit those currently undergoing treatment for cancer. Co-founders Kiera Bae, Annika Stevenson and Peter Walsh are coordinating the concert again this year and are hopeful it will become an ongoing event even after they graduate.
“This event is incredibly important to me because I have had both family members and friends
affected by cancer,” said Bae. “Raising money through this concert allows us to be a part of the search for a cure.”
