The Valencia based nonprofit, SNAP Sports is pleased to announce their 6th Annual Skate-a-Thon fundraiser scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Ice Station in Valencia, CA.
The Skate-a-Thon will begin at 4:00 p.m., with a special hockey exhibition at 5:30 p.m. featuring the Los Angeles County Fire Department Hockey Club. At the conclusion of the game, SNAP Sports will select a winner of the Skate-a-Thon Raffle. Proceeds from this event will support SNAP Sports programming which provides quality, sports-based programming to an underserved special needs population.
New for 2018, SNAP Sports is proud to support first responders by donating 10% of the proceeds from this event to the family of firefighter Arnie Quinones, who lost his life in the 2009 Station Fire.
One of the programs that Skate-a-Thon supports is the Valencia SNAP Flyers Special Hockey Club. The SNAP Flyers are one of 65 special hockey programs in the US, with most concentrated in the northeast and upper-midwest. According to SNAP Sports Executive Director, Dave Chase, “With four robust programs here in Southern California, there is clearly a need for this type of programming. Our Skate-a-Thon provides funding, but it’s also an opportunity for our athletes to give back to the program they love.”
Chase adds, “There are two ways to support Skate-a-Thon 2018, by making a donation or purchasing raffle tickets. Just go to www.snaphockey.org/skate-a-thon, and follow the prompts to do both, or either. It’s easy, fast and secure!” For this year’s Raffle Grand Prize, Princess Cruises has once again provide a premium vacation package valued at $1,200.00 USD. Princess Cruises is the destination leader sailing more than 150 itineraries visiting over 360 ports of call around the world. The package includes expert guidance from your own Princess Cruise Vacation Planner to make your vacation dreams, to the destination of your choice, come true.
In addition to the Princess Cruise, SNAP Sports will raffle-off two more exciting prizes: Courtesy of the The Oaks Club at Valencia, SNAP Sports will award one winner with a golf outing for 8 (w/carts) at the newly-renovated club. The final prize is a $200 Gift Card to Zero Celsius, the skating and hockey pro shop located inside the Ice Station Valencia. Tickets for the Raffle are $20.00 each, and with a purchase of FIVE, SNAP Sports will throw in an extra BONUS ticket for going all-in!! That’s SIX tickets for $100.00!
