The College of the Canyons Career Center will host its annual fall Job Fair on Friday, Oct. 4, providing job seekers with employment opportunities in various industries and career fields. The fair is scheduled 9:00 a.m. – noon in the West P.E. gymnasium at the Valencia campus.
The event will feature nearly 100 employers seeking to fill entry-, middle- and upper-level job opportunities, as well as free workshops for attendees.
New this year is a “Virtual Video Chat Job Fair” available for job seekers to connect with additional employers online who are unable to attend the fair in person. Career Center staff will help job seekers navigate the online chat and apply for jobs on the spot.
“The Job Fair provides the perfect opportunity to impress employers during a ‘mini interview’ format,” said Gina Bogna, dean of career services and special programs at the college. “We ask that job seekers to bring enough copies of their resume, dress professionally, and come prepared with questions to ask employers.”
Parking will be free in all student lots until 2:00 p.m. on the day of the event.
The Career Center will also host a pair of Resume Rally events where students and community members can create new resumes, or have their current resumes critiqued, prior to the Job Fair.
Resume Rally events are scheduled:
9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, Valencia Campus (Career Center, X-6)
9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, Canyon Country Campus (Building 1-B)
All Job Fair and Resume Rally events are free to students and community members, with no appointments needed and attendees able to drop in anytime.
For the Resume Rally events, attendees without student parking passes should be prepared to purchase a one-day pass for $3, or print out a Resume Rally flyer from the college’s Career Center website www.canyons.edu/careercenter and place it on their vehicle’s dashboard the day of the event.
