College of the Canyons will host Manufacturing Day from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center.
This nationwide event is held every year by colleges, businesses, and communities to provide a deeper understanding of modern manufacturing and opportunities available within the industry to students, parents, and the public.
“We are very excited to be able to host Manufacturing Day in-person once again,” said Justin Wallace, director of business partnerships and workforce engagement at the college. “There will be multiple businesses and national partners participating in a panel discussion to talk about new technological trends, the great career opportunities in this industry, as well as how young people can get involved and gain experience.”
The panel will consist of companies like Northrop Grumman, Woodward, Lief Labs, Bay Center, Universal Studios, Technifex, FANUC and Lincoln Electric.
Following the panel discussion will be an interactive question-and-answer portion and a demo in the PAC lobby. During the demo, attendees will have the opportunity to engage with panel members and see first-hand some of the new equipment that COC will be using in the Advanced Technology Center, a new facility that will offer hands-on training to students and existing manufacturing professionals and help them grow their careers.
Parking will be free in all COC lots during the duration of the event.
