[Olive View] – Olive View-UCLA Medical Center has teamed up with “Rooms That Rock 4 Chemo” to transform a cancer treatment clinic into a healing haven.

A dedication ceremony featuring clinic patients, hospital, and nonprofit executives will be held on Monday, Feb. 1, 2016, at 9 a.m.

Hospital employees joined a talented crew of RTR4C designers, volunteers, and artists to transform the Oncology Clinic into a warm, vibrant, and peaceful environment through paint and stencil designs. The redesigned space will feature artwork and a “Wall of Courage” intended to support patients on their road to recovery and wellness. “We are excited for this opportunity to work with Rooms That Rock 4 Chemo to transform our Oncology Clinic into a more calming space for patients during a difficult time in their lives,” said Dr. Phillis Wu, attending hematologist and oncologist. “This project has taken over six months of planning to come to fruition and is made possible by the support of RTR4C and Olive View personnel from administration down to our amazing staff. Everyone involved in this project had a singular goal in mind, which was to embrace this opportunity to give something back to our patients.”

The clinic serves over 2,000 low-income patients a year seeking treatment for breast, colon, lung, and many other cancer types. The project has transformed typical treatment rooms into ones that provide a sense of calm and tranquility for an optimal healing environment for these courageous individuals and their families.

This ambitious project is one of our largest, and will undoubtedly have a transformative effect on the patients who are treated – often for long periods of time – in these facilities and the caregivers who work in them.
