The Master’s University women’s soccer team has signed Alexis Mendoza, a technically-sound midfielder who head coach Curtis Lewis described as “calm on the ball.”
“She will help unlock defenses with her passing and is a good ball winner,” Lewis said of the Hacienda Heights, California, product. “She has a sweet spirit that fits perfectly into our team.”
Mendoza was a first-team all-league performer at Los Altos High in Hacienda Heights, where she was also named a varsity captain.
Mendoza said her athletic goals at Master’s were to earn playing time and to win a Golden State Athletic Conference title. She said she chose TMU because she wanted to attend a school that put God first and “prioritized God’s word in both athletics and academics.”
“I wanted to attend a college where I can grow in my faith and be taught truth,” she said. “I’m looking forward to playing soccer with the amazingly talented players at TMU, meeting new people, and hopefully going on missions trips.”
The Mustangs went 13-6-1 last season and reached the GSAC semifinals for the fourth time in six years.
Master’s has appeared in the NAIA national tournament four times under Lewis.
