The Child and Family Center will begin providing outpatient substance use treatment services for adolescents and young adults with primary substance use disorders under the California Drug MediCal Program starting Tuesday, October 3.
The Center was approved to participate as a provider in the program on July 25. The outpatient program is six months in length and clients can join at any time.
Clients must be eligible for program services through third-party payors (Medi-Cal, My Health L.A., etc.), be a resident of Los Angeles County, and have received a physical within the past 12 months (clients can still enroll in the program, but will have to receive a physical within 30 days of enrollment).
The program encompasses Individual Therapy (Assessment, Treatment Planning, Relapse Prevention), Group Services, Patient Education, Family Therapy, Collateral Services, Crisis Services (if needed), Case Management and Aftercare Services.
These services feature up to six hours of treatment weekly for clients 12-17 years old and up to nine hours of treatment for clients 18-25 years old.
The treatment is designed to give clients the knowledge and support to allow them to achieve harm reduction from drugs and/or alcohol and to initiate a long-term program of recovery.
Duration and direction of treatment will be determined by the client’s individual therapeutic needs, the diagnostic findings from the initial assessment and input from the primary referral source.
Services include groups up to four hours per week in which clients will learn about and discuss Early Recovery Skills and Relapse Prevention Skills. In addition, clients may receive individual therapy, group therapy and case management services.
