
Diane D’Elia
Saugus Union School District is pleased to announce that after a thorough search, Diane D’Elia was chosen as the new Director of Student Support Services beginning July 1, 2014. D’Elia is currently a Special Education Program Specialist at the district where she utilizes her extensive knowledge and expertise in special education by assisting students with exceptional needs, families, teachers, and outside agencies in the Individual Family Services Plan (IFSP)/Individual Education Program (IEP) planning process.
As an educator herself, she has been actively involved in leadership roles within the Saugus Teachers’ Association and at school sites. She has been a mentor to teachers entering the profession by becoming a Master Teacher as well as a Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment (BTSA) Support Provider, and a Professional Development Trainer for new teachers.
“I couldn’t be more pleased with this announcement, “says Paul De La Cerda, Board of Trustees President. “Diane brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position,” said De La Cerda. “Her experience and knowledge of special education will support SUSD’s mission to serve the needs of our children and families.”
D’Elia’s responsibilities will include the continued implementation and success of the Saugus special education program in the Student Support Services Department. She will be planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating Special Education and Student Services programs; assisting in the development, implementation of policies to ensure compliance with District, County, SELPA mandates, and State and Federal laws.
