College of the Canyons shortstop Danielle Chatman and outfielder Heidi Ludy continue to garner postseason honors for the Cougars.
Chatman, the Western State Conference East Division Player of the Year, has been named to the California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association All-State Team.
Ludy has been named a 3CFCA All-Southern California Team selection for the second time in her Cougar career.
Chatman finished the regular season with a .424 average, and a team-leading 10 home runs and 49 RBIs. She also swiped 14 bases, scored 39 runs and reached base at a .507 clip, slugging .847 with 27 extra-base hits. Those numbers earned her a unanimous selection as the conference Player of the Year.
Last season, Chatman was a 3CFCA All-SoCal selection.
Ludy, who was also named All-WSC East, led the Cougars with a .432 average, finished third on the club with 31 RBIs and tied for second with 39 runs. Her 25 steals were tops on the team and second in the WSC. She also earned 3CFCA All-SoCal honors as a freshman in 2017.
The Cougars (26-14, 16-0) finished the regular season as the WSC East Champions after completing a perfect 16-0 run through the conference schedule — a feat that had not been accomplished since 2013.
No. 8 seed Canyons will next host No. 9 Cerritos College (22-16, 8-4) in a best-of-three series to begin the CCCAA Southern California Regional Playoffs.
Game 1 is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, May 4, with action scheduled to continue at noon on Saturday, May 5. If necessary, a third and final game would be played at approximately 2 p.m. on Saturday.
