The nonprofit Family Promise of the Santa Clarita Valley is seeking donations of supplies, toys, gift cards and more to be given to low-income and/or homeless families during a Holiday Shopping event at Valencia United Methodist Church on Saturday, December 14 from 9 a.m. to noon.

Family Promise is also inviting low-income and/or homeless families from other agencies and the five SCV school districts to shop for cleaning supplies, hygiene products, clothes, toys, household products, and gift cards.

This will be Family Promise’s 3rd Annual Holiday Shopping event. Last year, the event served 534 people through 151 volunteers and gave out $40,000 in supplies.

Listed below are examples of how you and your company can participate:

* Provide in-kind or monetary donations such as gift cards from $10-25 each from Walmart, Target, JCPenney, grocery stores, 99 cent store, Dollar Tree, Amazon, Apple, iTunes, restaurants, etc.

* Coordinate a collection drive for items such as:

Hygiene Products: shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotions, razors, deodorant, toothpaste, hairbrush, face wipes, diapers, wipes, etc.

Clothing: New or gently used clothing, jackets, sweaters, socks (all sizes), hoodies, children’s underwear, hats, beanies, gloves, etc.

Household/Cleaning Products: Detergent, cleansers, paper goods, cleaning sprays, etc.

Toys/Gifts: Ages 3-18 years old (smaller and unwrapped gifts preferred).

Volunteer Opportunities: Organizers need help to sort, pack, and transport gifts to Valencia United Methodist Church the week prior to the event or to help the day of the event to assist in helping families to shop.
