Santa Clarita Valley International (SCVi), a free public charter school serving grades TK through 12, will host an informational session Thursday for current and prospective high school students in the school’s Shakespeare Theatre at 28060 Hasley Canyon Road in Castaic, the school announced Tuesday.
Eighth graders currently enrolled in SCVi’s Lower School will have the opportunity to spend the day on Jan. 18 in the Upper School, and the campus will open to both current and prospective students from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. that evening. Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the Upper School campus and meet with faculty and staff, including SCVi’s International Baccalaureate coordinator, college counselor, and arts, theatre, and athletic directors (including new boys’ basketball coach and former University of California at Los Angeles standout Bob Webb) in an informal, student-centered setting.
SCVi, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary this spring, offers a project- and inquiry-based approach to learning and equips students with the critical thinking, problem-solving, and entrepreneurial skills necessary to succeed in a 21st century world. It is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges, and is the only school in the Santa Clarita Valley certified to teach the rigorous International Baccalaureate curriculum. SCVi is also the founding school of iLEAD Schools, a network of 12 free public charter schools throughout California and the Midwest.
