The holiday season officially begins in Santa Clarita as Old Town Newhall transforms into a sparkling winter wonderland for Light Up Main Street, presented by DrinkPak, on Saturday, Nov. 15, 4-8 p.m.

As you stroll down Main Street, get ready to see tens-of-thousands of twinkling lights, live entertainment, festive food and family fun.

This Santa Clarita tradition will feature the annual tree lighting ceremony, along with holiday festivities to enjoy with your family, friends and neighbors during an evening out on Main Street in the city’s Arts and Entertainment District.

Join the Santa Clarita City Council at 5:30 p.m. in front of the Santa Clarita Public Library Old Town Newhall Branch at 24500 Main St., Newhall, CA 91321, as they lead the countdown to light up the iconic community Christmas tree, along with the lights that will illuminate Main Street and transform Old Town Newhall into a holiday wonderland.

Following the tree lighting, be sure to stop by Veterans Historical Plaza at 24275 N. Walnut St., Newhall, CA 91321, to experience another special holiday tree that pays homage to veterans and active-duty military.

From choirs to carolers and show-stopping community performances, the evening’s Main Stage lineup will feature nonstop entertainment, including:

4 – 4:20 p.m.: Castaic USD Carolers

4:25 – 4:55 p.m.: Innovative Show Choir

5 – 5:15 p.m.: Canyon Theatre Guild

5:20 – 5:45 p.m.: Tree Lighting Ceremony

5:45 – 6:05 p.m.: Mission Opera

6:10 – 6:25 p.m.: Include Everyone Project

6:30 – 6:50 p.m.: Hart High School Show Choir

6:55 – 7:25 p.m.: Vibe Performing Arts

7:30 – 8 p.m.: Santa Clarita Master Chorale

New this year, guests 21 and older can visit the Pumpkin King Pub, an on-street bar that will feature festive beverages from Eighth and Rail, as well as a lively dueling piano performance.

The DrinkPak Lounge returns, hosted by the Light Up Main Street presenting sponsor, offering a cozy space to relax and take in the sights.

Visitors are encouraged to support Old Town Newhall businesses and restaurants while attending the event. Food trucks serving sweet and savory favorites will line Lyons Avenue, 8th Street and Market Street, complementing the neighborhood’s wide selection of dining and shopping options.

Local nonprofits are joining the celebration this year, offering fun and festive activities for guests while also sharing the organization’s missions and ways to give back during the holiday season. The City is also proud to partner with business sponsors Logix Federal Credit Union and Henry Mayo Newhall, adding to the festivities along Main Street.

Dive into winter magic by making snow angels in 20 tons of real snow, meeting Santa and sending your holiday wishes to the North Pole. Play classic games at the Candy Cane Carnival, or roast marshmallows and make sweet memories at the new s’mores fire pits.

Multiple inflatable slides, bounce houses and an obstacle course will be ready for fun in the kid-friendly Polar Playground.

Let your creativity shine at the Elves’ Crafts Corner, and for guests with sensory sensitivities, take a break in the Chill Zone for a calm, comfortable environment.

If you are looking to add a furry friend to your family, make sure to visit Santa Paws presented by RE/MAX. The Castaic Animal Care Center will have adoptable pups for you to meet, or snap a pic with one of the therapy dogs, dressed up in their holiday best. Don’t forget to stop by the Makers Marketplace to shop the one-of-a-kind handmade items from our local artisans.
