On Friday, Golden Valley High School’s competitive show choir team, Voltage, dominated the intermediate mixed division at the Los Alamitos 2019 Xtravaganza.
They swept in all categories taking best Musicianship, Best Showmanship, and were awarded First Place Grand Champions overall, along with an award for Best Performer going to junior, Taryn Moran. This accomplishment marks the first time a GV show choir team placed first overall in a competition.
Berean Haddad, who joined the Golden Valley Vocal Arts family as director this school year, said, “From day one, I have told these students that their greatest advantage is their huge hearts. Here in GV Vocal Arts, we value kindness and hard work above all else, and I can truly say these are the kindest, hardest working students around. The trophy is just icing on the cake, but so well deserved!”
Voltage looks forward to their next competition, Oceanside Sound Off, on Friday, March 29. GV Vocal Arts will hold their final concert for the year on Friday, May 10, featuring performances from all choirs.
Tickets will be available for purchase next month, and those interested in sponsoring the choir are invited to contact Mrs. Haddad. GV Vocal Arts will launch their new website, www.gvvocalarts.org, later this spring which will include performance, competition, sponsorship, and fundraising information.
