[HMNMH] – In an effort to educate more Spanish-speaking women on the importance of self-breast exams, and in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital is presenting “A Lifesaving Lump Lesson” lecture in Spanish on Saturday, Oct. 27, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 23233 Lyons Avenue, Newhall, CA 91321.
The “Lifesaving Lump Lesson” lecture is an opportunity for women to learn self-breast exam techniques and how to identify changes in breast appearance and feeling. The presentation will also include the latest in breast cancer prevention and optimum breast healthcare, and an opportunity to ask questions and share information with others.
“Routine breast exams provide women with a greater awareness of the condition of their breasts and an understanding of how breasts vary in sensitivity and texture at different times during the menstrual cycle and throughout different stages of life,” said Terry Bucknall, BA, RT (R)(M), director of the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.
While changes in the breast are common and do not necessarily indicate cancer, it is important to be aware of the changes and report them to your doctor. The lecture is free and open to everyone. For more information, please call (661) 200-1306.
